As far as weddings in stately homes go, Wrest Park in Silsoe, Bedfordshire has to be among the very best in the country. It’s owned by English Heritage and they have only recently started taking on wedding bookings, so you can be one of the first to have your wedding in such amazing surroundings!
I was really pleased to be approached by Wrest Park to be one of their recommended photographers - from doing photos around the grounds a few months ago I know it’s a really great space for stunning images and certainly makes an impressive wedding venue.

While I was up northerly a couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of seeing my cousins Jessica and Nathan and Sarah and Chris in Huddersfield. I had a spare afternoon on the Friday before all the real work kicked off, so I headed out with Sarah and Chris and their luvverly kids Alani and Lily for some cool family portraits, and got Sarah back in her wedding dress (so jealous that she still fits into hers!) for some fab bridal portraits.
It was late afternoon and I just love the gorgeous golden light!

Last week I had the joy of popping in to see my friends Kathryn and Eric who run Henley on Thames florists Stemtation. I always buy flowers from them - their service is absolutely brilliant, they really care about their customers and they remember who you are - which is so nice in this world of conglomerate faceless interflora websites that come up in Google!
They’ve just moved into their new premises down at Toad Hall (yes the one from Wind in the Willows - loads of places around Henley were inspiration for the book!). Infact I passed someone on their road in an open top red vintage racing car that looked like it very much could have belonged to old Toadie! I took my camera down and captured a few shots - and caught Eric unawares before he had a chance to get camera shy - ha!

Just a quick note to let y’all know I’m featured in this month’s issue of my favourite photography magazine Professional Photographer!
I was interviewed by the magazine about the hows and whys of doing model shoots, and I explained about how it’s a great opportunity to let your creative juices fly and to try new ideas out that perhaps wouldn’t be the best time to experiment with at a real wedding.

After a weekend of beautiful sunshine the weather was looking a bit threatening on Thursday, and I was a little bit worried for Kathryn and Malcolm - but hurrah the storm clouds held off, although the wind was still a bit crazy!
All the guys looked really smart in their uniforms and I loved Kingscote Barn where the wedding reception was held. Lambs were frolicking in the fields and blossom was everywhere. Kathryn had also done an awesome job with the tables and decor - the beautiful smell of flowers was so incredible as I walked into the barn.

Monday’s wedding was a blast from the past! I know both the bride and groom’s families from back in my schooldays in Exeter so it was a real honour to be there watching more history being written! Infact Jo’s sister Sarah is one of my oldest best friends and was one of my own bridesmaids two years ago!
As it was a Monday I thought it would probably be quite a small wedding, but I was wrong! Jo and Josh are very popular and it was lovely to see such a big turnout.
The wedding ceremony was held at Whirlow Grange, a Christian conference centre in Sheffield where Josh’s brother in Law Andrew gave a really great and inspiring talk.
Afterwards the reception was held at the absolutely amazing Hassop Hall with its very grand entrance just down the road. We stopped en route to grab some shots with the rugged moors behind us which was very windy and quite good fun as all the guests drove past beeping and hollering out of the windows - got some good reactions from Jo and Josh on camera!

Ian and Lucy’s fab and fun wedding was held at St Andrews in Newcastle Under Lyme followed by a lovely reception at Goldstone Hall in Shropshire.
I know Lucy through church and knew she would have some great ideas to make her wedding really unique, although I had no idea she was planning the coolest wedding transport ever! I loved the AMAZING yellow camper van!
I was only allowed to take two photos during the service (no pressure then!) but I absolutely love the black and white shot of Lucy giving Ian a little look during the ceremony. It’s extra nice knowing I had that pressure!

On the weekend I headed up for my old schoolfriend Louise’s wedding to the lovely Rash. They’ve been going out for what seems like forever, so I was so happy when Lou contacted me all those months ago to tell me of her engagement!
I’d not been inside Allerton Castle before, so I was blown away when I walked in and saw the huge log fire and sweeping staircase that surrounded the area where the ceremony would be held. And when the registrar took me into the incredible room where the signing of the register would be I nearly died -I’m used to pokey little church offices with fan heaters on the wall!

I’m just back from my first ever three weddings in a row weekend - Saturday was Louise and Rash at Allerton Castle near Leeds, Sunday was Ian and Lucy at Goldstone Manor in Newcastle Under Lyme and Monday was Jo and Josh’s big day at Hassop Hall near Sheffield! Fortunately none of them felt like work as all the couples were already friends of mine, so I knew quite a few people at each wedding and it was really nice catching up with old friends.

A couple of weekends ago I had a very early 5:30am start to make it down for my cousin Steve’s Civil Partnership in Brighton. I got there so early to take portraits of Steve and John on Brighton Pier before the ceremony and it was so great to spend that special time before the service...
