hotel du vin, bristol { photoshoot }

I’d been in Bristol’s gorgeous Hotel Du Vin a few times before and knew it would make a stunning backdrop for a wedding or bridal photoshoot, and finally on Monday I finally got to try it out in person.

I do love the ambience of the hotel - much of it is quite dark and cosy, which is very atmospheric for a romantic stay, however this can be quite challenging for photographs. To get the best result, I had to look out for the pools of window light. My favourite areas were the library and the gorgeous french-inspired dining room. All of these portraits were shot using natural light, the same way I try and work at a wedding. I feel it’s less obtrusive to others - which was important during this shoot as there were lots of hotel guests milling around. Also at a wedding you can get more natural, genuine expressions if the person you’re photographing feels less ‘on the spot’ then when a flash is firing and drawing attention to them! :)

Bristol based models Donatella and Katerina looked absolutely stunning, and my fab team for the day included Becky Simpson on hair and award winning makeup artist Sarah Brock

A big thanks to Kat from rocknrollbride.com for the loan of her Maggie Sottero dress which looked awesome against Donatella’s dark chestnut locks!

Steve Gerrard - WHOAH!!! Rosie, you've aced these! Gorgeous. Well done x

rosie@foreverafterimages.com - Thanks Chanelle! Benita - yeah it was a great hotel! I had to arrange it in advance, I think if you just turn up somewhere you are definitely going to run into problems which could be a disaster if you had a whole team with you ready to shoot! :)

Benita - Oh my heavens! These were shot at a hotel? What an awesome hotel! I'm so happy to see I'm not the only one using natural/available light only. (All the time). Question - did you have to get a release for or some sort from/for the hotel in order for you to shoot there? I've always wondered about that. Fabulous work. As always! :D xox

Chanelle Segerius B - Rosie, I love these. So stunning!
